KWEEVAK CD REVIEWS - MARCH 2003
Psychedelic Breakfast - Bona Fide

Bona Fide is the third release from Psychedelic Breakfast. This four-man band out of Massachusetts is building a strong following in the New England music scene and beyond. They have also won various awards for their compositions, which include multifaceted arrangements, quality songwriting, smoking guitars, ambient keys, cosmic melodies, funky beats and overall first class musicianship. They cite a variety of influences such as The Dead, Phish, Hendrix and Frank Zappa. Psychedelic Breakfast can be considered a jam band that blends rock, funk and jazz into unique compositions. Their innovative sounds defy genres and these guys can jam. This CD captures twelve energetic live performances, which includes an impressive cover of 'Hot Lanta'. Other memorable moments are track two with its twists and turns and a cool Phish vibe. Burning guitars, fiery keys and a feisty beat complete the package. 'Spunk', the title pretty much says it all. This improvisational song captures a variety of moods moving to an upbeat groove. 'Rufus' is an epic jam clocking in at over nineteen minutes. It has lots of spontaneity, high energy and kick. Psychedelic Breakfast serves up a cornucopia of innovative music that is good anytime of day!
ON THE VERGE - JUNE/JULY, 2002
Psychedelic Breakfast

New Haven, Connecticut: Progressive rock, reggae, fusion and quirky songs all come together in Deuce, the first album from Psychedelic Breakfast. This quartet first came together back in 1998 and has since played many memorable shows, including a mammoth five-and-a-half-hour stint at the 2000 Woodstock reunion. The band's guitarist, Tim Palmieri, is an incredible player who's apt to be churning out meaty riffs followed by fluid jazz runs and then guttural funk. Many of the nine cuts feature quirky signature changes more akin to Phish than jazz-fusion, but the stellar playing keeps listeners on their toes. Songwriting is definitely not their forte, although the 13-minute opener "Tribal Funk Affliction" shows promise. The band is also often apt to reinterpret classic rock by artists such as the Beatles, Cream, Hendrix, Zappa and the Grateful Dead. One thing is certain-the band members have an almost telepathic interaction and are not afraid to experiment. Expect big things.
YALE DAILY NEWS - April 26, 2002
Psychedelic Breakfast "Deuce"

Deuce, the band's second album, is pure fun. Psychedelic Breakfast delivers an energy-packed release, filled with funk-infused jams and experimental compositions. Guitarist Tim Palmieri, bassist Ron Spears, keyboardist Jordan Giangreco and drummer Adrian Tramontano combine to create songs that are both lively and technically superb. At times the album is a little rough around the edges, but Deuce is still one of the most exciting releases by a young band this year.

On Deuce, Psychedelic Breakfast proves that they like to take risks and push edges. Their energetic and youthful fusion of rock and funk is irresistible and never ceases to surprise the listener. Deuce has a few moments of immaturity, but the spirit and skill of the band make up for any shortcomings. If you like jam bands, try not to miss this one.

JAMBASE - March 29, 2002
Psychedelic Breakfast

The final word on Psychedelic Breakfast is who can manage to not like (or at least appreciate) a band that jumps from funk to "Terrapin" to record-breaking drum solos, and then accompanies itself into an encore with "Eye of the Tiger". Psychedelic Breakfast provided a fun and dance-crazed evening at the Castle, as I'm sure they would do at any venue. I know it's been said before, but Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So eat it up, baby. Check out their website PsychedelicBreakfast.com and catch them at a venue of festival near you!
