Almost Famous

Three little letters, one giant sound. Since its inception six years ago in Voorhees, SGR has grown from a hastily conceived concept to a brotherhood of rockers just a break or two away from stardom.

SGR at the TLA

I just saw Reel Big Fish, Catch 22, Midtown, and a local favorite, SGR, play to a sold out crowd at the TLA and 2 days later, the day before Thanksgiving no less, SGR headline for a decent amount of people. SGR fooled us all when they rocked out an entirely new set just a couple of days later.

People who live in New Brunswick complain that its music scene has fallen
on hard times and has lost the energy and enthusiasm it enjoyed just a few years ago. The sparse attendance
at some IMF showcases this year might be attributable to that ennui, but for those who did turn out, the IMF
provided an eclectic array of sounds and styles, from the homegrown hip-hop of Rutgers' own Little T & One Track Mike,
to the flawless precision of New Brunswick's Prosolar Mechanics, to the spectacle of SGR, a 10-piece ska band from
the Jersey shore that rocked the tiny Budapest Lounge.

SGR, a nine-piece South Jersey ensemble, has been heating up the summer with brass punches.
Think of SGR as a local Mighty Mighty Bosstones, offering easily accessible, richly layered rock and SKA songs
that Mom, Dad, and the 17-year-old can all enjoy
